When will my Baby start getting their Teeth?

Teething, the process of baby (primary) teeth coming through the gums into the mouth, is variable among individual babies. Some babies get their teeth early and some get them late. In general, the first baby teeth to appear are usually the lower front (anterior) teeth and they usually begin erupting between the age of 6-8 months. The first baby teeth to come into the mouth are the two bottom front teeth. You will notice this when your baby is about six to eight months old. Next to follow will be the four upper front teeth and the remainder of your baby’s teeth will appear periodically. They will usually appear in pairs along the sides of the jaw until the child is about 2-1/2 years old.At around 2-1/2 years old, your child should have all 20 teeth. Between the ages of five and six, the first permanent teeth will begin to erupt. Some of the permanent teeth replace baby teeth and some don’t. Don’t worry if some teeth are a few months early or late as all children are different.Baby teeth are important as they not only hold space for permanent teeth, but they are important to chewing, biting, speech, and appearance

When will my Baby start getting their Teeth?

Teething is different for every baby - when primary teeth begin to erupt into the mouth can range anywhere between six and eight months old. It is usually the lower front (anterior) teeth that appear first, with the upper front teeth then being followed by the rest of your baby’s teeth which may appear gradually as they come in pairs along the sides of the jaw until your child is about two-and-a-half years old. By the time they reach five or six years old, their permanent teeth should have erupted. Do not worry if your child's teeth look slightly ahead or behind of other children - everyone is unique! Baby teeth are key for developmentally-critical activities such as chewing, biting, speech, and of course, for appearance. They also have the important job of creating space for the permanent teeth!
